Work for us

Community Housing and Therapy (CHT) is a leading provider of Psychologically Informed Recovery Communities – ‘where relationships are the treatment’. CHT works with adults and young people who have challenging and complex presentations, many of whom have diagnoses of personality disorders or psychoses, and who have experienced negative childhood experiences or trauma, within a psycho-developmental framework in order to create an environment where the individual needs are met to enhance development, health and wellbeing, with the aim of enabling them to lead successful and productive lives.

We offer a good working environment as part of a small organisation that is passionate about providing high quality developmental support to young persons and adults experiencing mental distress and complex psychosocial disorders. We have a strong sense of values, a clear treatment and support model based on relational psychology, client participation and recovery, a strong training programme and ethos, and a highly supportive clinical and management framework.

What our staff say

“I appreciate CHT’s dedication to regularly training staff and giving them space to openly reflect on their roles in a way that is realistic about the challenges of working in mental health. It is generally a welcoming environment that encourages staff’s personal and professional development.”

“I like the focus on formulation regarding our clients and staff reflecting on their practice weekly”

“We are making a real difference to people’s lives.”

CLOSING DATE 3RD NOVEMBER

This is an opportunity to become a crucial part of the leadership of a dynamic organization providing residential psychologically informed recovery communities ‘where relationships are the treatment’. You will provide psychodynamic leadership to a team of psychotherapists and, as part of the organisation’s senior team, clinical support to seven therapeutic communities (TC) providing psychologically informed environments (PIE) for young people and adults. We work with people aged 16+ experiencing severe mental distress with diagnoses of psychosis or personality disorders, and enactments including self-harm, suicidal behaviours, alcohol and drug use, self-neglect, etc., most of whom have histories of compound trauma and long or multiple hospitalisations and placement breakdowns. You will use your neuro-psychodynamic understanding, your capacity to work with and through high levels of anxiety, your ability to focus on and articulate complex interpersonal dynamics, and your wisdom, to enable staff and managers in our services to provide the most enabling interactions they can to support our residents in their journey of healthy re-development and growth into recovery – to ‘get a life worth living’.

We are looking for two part-time (24-32 hours pw) Lead Psychotherapists to work alongside our two Senior Managers; we anticipate the roles becoming full-time in the future as we expand. You will join a growing, committed and vibrant organization at the forefront of best practice in mental healthcare at an exciting period of our development. We offer strong clinical support and CPD, a great working ethos and atmosphere, a real sense of belonging in an organization that profoundly cares about what we’re doing and how we do it, and the best terms and conditions we can afford.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact Dr Holly North at hn@cht.org.uk to arrange a time for a phone conversation.
