Our website privacy statement

The Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR (which apply from 25 May 2018) apply to all CHT’s activities and processes involving personal data (e.g., whenever we collect, share, access, destroy, analyse, or store data).

Personal data is considered to be any information from which an individual can be identified, either directly (from that data alone) or indirectly (if someone could work out who the person referred to is from the data or by matching against other data).

Examples include names and email addresses. See the Information Commissioner’s website for more information.

  • To invite you to participate in surveys or research

How do we store your information?

We take the protection of personal information seriously and take all steps necessary to ensure that the information we manage, both online and offline, is treated securely and in accordance with our Organisational Privacy Notice.

However, sending information over the internet is not completely secure. While we make every effort to protect your personal information sent to us, we cannot guarantee its security during transmission.

How long do you store information?

We keep information for as long as is reasonable and necessary for the relevant activity, which may be to fulfil statutory obligations (for example, the collection of Gift Aid).

Do you share my information with anyone else?

We never share your information with third-party organisations for marketing purposes. However, we may share your personal information with companies that perform services on our behalf, such as an email campaign management provider.

Our service providers are required by contract to protect the confidentiality of the personal information we share with them and to use it only to provide specific services on our behalf.

Our website includes links to other sites that are not owned or managed by CHT. We cannot be held responsible for the privacy of data collected by these websites.
